Hakarat Hatov

  1. A fundamental teaching in Judaism, a Hebrew term
that means "recognizing the good."

  2. A core value that emphasizes gratitude for all blessings in life, no matter how big or small.

[haa-kare-at haa-tove] state of mind

Here at One Mitzvah a Day we focus on the Jewish value of Hakarat Hatov—we express gratitude to those who stand against antisemitism, and in support of Israel, through small daily good deeds (Mitzvot).

WHAT IS An example MITZVAH?

Every morning, you’ll receive a text message with a simple, powerful action you can take with just a few clicks - it takes less than 3 minutes! Our movement focuses on expressing gratitude to those who take a stand against antisemitism and in support of Israel.

Together, we thank the Department of Education’s investigation into antisemitism at Sarah Lawrence, Google’s commitment to removing harmful content, and Trader Joe’s courage in proudly supporting Israeli products despite controversy. We applaud Shopify and Apple for parting ways with Kanye, and we honor the politicians advocating for the safe return of hostages. With our words of encouragement, we can strengthen our allies’ commitment to bravely doing what is right.

Let’s unite in gratitude, and together, create a wave of support that lights the way forward!
